Culinary Education

(Cast: 1 f, 1 m)

This short comic opera featuring a pretentious chef in love with food and a down to earth waitress who just wants to make a living, was written with composer Abigail Richardson. It was one of four short operas written during the Librettist/Composer Laboratory organized annually by Tapestry New Opera Works in 2003.

Culinary Education, Juliet’s Kiss (composer James Rolfe), and Good Fences (composer Nicolas Gilbert) were produced by Tapestry New Opera Works at Opera Briefs in 2003. Culinary Education was reprised at Opera Briefs in September, 2004.

It was also sung at Word on the Street, and at Toronto City Hall as part of the celebrations for International Music Day.
